 A male goat is called a billy or buck, A female is called a nanny or doe and a baby is called a kid. Females give birth to one to 3 kids each year. Goats are extremely playful , even as adults. Theylove to climb and to play “king of the mountain” with each other. They will stand on a large rock, or even one of the other goats and but their heads together, trying to push one another off.

Goats are one of the oldest domesticated animals. They have been raised all over the world for milk, meat and hair. They are very hardy animals and can live on very poor pasture and very little water. They are known for eating almost anything. Many people keep goats as pets. They
can be very sweet natured, and intelligent.

There over 300 different breeds of goat. Each breed has features that make it distinct. We have several different kinds of goats, including Myotonic, or “Tennessee fainting goats”. These goats will stiffen up and fall over when they are startled. Our goats are so used to people that they do not faint very often.
